Dare to Dream...BIG January 31 2014, 0 Comments

What happens to a dream deferred was the question posed by the great Langston Hughes. Does it dry up? Does it fester like a sore? Does it stink like rotten meat? Does it simply explode? He illustrated beautifully yet painfully what happens to the dreams of many who fail to actualize their full potential; those who are too afraid to go boldly where some may have or have not gone.
From the time we are very little our dreams, hopes, and aspirations are either shaped by our environment or drawn from something deep inside. Those that come from deep inside are what I believe to be natural gifts and talents that we nurture until they are perfected. Let’s say the child prodigy-musician, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, chess player, or artist Pablo Picasso. All these people were brilliant beyond their years. Yet they dared to dream big.
I am a natural born dreamer and doer. However, I learned that dreams can only come true if you take deliberate and consistent actions to achieve what you have set out to do. After all a dream is merely a thought or image of us being somewhere doing some thing. In most cases those thoughts are grandiose, bigger than we could fathom as being our reality someday. Often times we let life- career, family, and stuff keep us stuck in a place and before we know it life has passed us by only to die with all that God has given us still locked inside.
So I say to you- the person who is reading this- Dare to Dream but only for a while. I challenge you to be bold in doing and turn your BIG dreams into a BIG reality!
